RE/Search Publications is an American magazine and publisher based in San Francisco, founded by its editor V. Vale in 1980. He is likely the longest-running punk publisher still active today. RE/Search is the successor to Vale's earlier punk rock zine Search & Destroy (1977-1979) which was started with $200 provided to Vale by Allen Ginsberg and Lawrence Ferlinghetti. Search & Destroy was the very first punk rock and new wave publication to emerge in San Francisco and has gained mythic status among punk rock and zine aficionados.
